Lin Cong has not only "deconstructed" the traditional forms and functions of painting, but through setting a "frame" within the constant area of the canvas, he shifts the functions of "images" and "paints," liberating energy and intensity from traditional expressions to explore the possibilities after loosening original concepts.

A:创作中图像的选择不是基于文化属性和符号指向考量的 吸引我做出选择的是图像本身的质感和颜色。我希望图像本身回归到一种剥离了符号指向性的“元素”状态。
Q: Have unconscious cross-cultural influences shaped your work? How do these affect your artistic expression?
A: The choice of images in my work isn't based on cultural attributes or symbolic directions. What attracts me is the texture and color of the images themselves. I strive for images to return to a state of "element" stripped of symbolic directionality.

Q:这次展览的作品多是上下两幅的组画,是什么契机考虑用这个形式?作品及展览的名字都是“信息”是有什么考虑?
A:组画的模式来自于壁画的一种格式 借此营造出一种遗迹感。元素即是信息,只是他们进行了重组,所以信息也产生了新的变化。
Q: Many works in this exhibition are diptychs. What prompted you to use this format? The title of the works and exhibition is "Information." What was the thought process behind this?
A: The diptych format draws inspiration from a type of mural layout, which I used to create a sense of relics. The elements themselves are information; they have just been reorganized, resulting in new changes to the information.

Q:聊聊为什么作品里绘画的对象刻意进行里硬边处理?
A:因为我希望绘制的主体看起来是置入到我设置的框架里的。
Q: Why are the objects in the paintings deliberately given hard edges?
A: I want the subjects I paint to appear as though they have been placed within the frames I have set.
